About the Foundation

Founded on January 9, 2000, the William F. Crumel Jr. Foundation for Excellence in Art Education is an organization exclusively for charitable educational purposes. The organization’s purposes include the awarding of scholarships to selected students for tuition, fees, books, and other educational expenses associated with attendance at post-high school educational institutions.

The initial trustees and founders of the organization are Anita Crumel, William Crumel, and Edna Golden.

Annually, the Organization brings together family and friends of William Crumel Jr. and the Foundation to celebrate William’s life and to award scholarships in his memory. William Jr. was born on January 9, 1970 and passed on September 6, 1998. He was a dedicated school teacher and earned a Bachelor's of Art degree from Virginia State University.

Through the fund raising efforts of the Foundation, scholarships are awarded to selected recipients. A four-year commitment is made to each recipient with annual awards presented at the Annual Celebration and Scholarship Event.

William F. Crumel, Jr. believed that every student had something great to contribute to society no matter their current situation.

The William F. Crumel Jr. Foundation is committed to helping deserving scholars achieve their goals in all aspects of their lives, especially academically. We believe that education is the key to building leaders for a better tomorrow.


Mission


The mission of the William F. Crumel Jr. Foundation for Excellence in Art Education is to provide valuable resources by contributing substantial postsecondary financial and mentoring support to deserving scholars, and to promote and maintain the memory of William F. Crumel, Jr. through creative programming while maintaining a well-managed educational foundation.
