About William F. Crumel, Jr.

William F. Crumel, Jr. was born on January 9, 1970 on a cold, beautiful, bright, and snowy day in East Orange, New Jersey. A tiny baby at 5lbs, 6 ounces, William was the joy of his mom and dad.
William grew up in New Jersey in Newark, Irvington, and Somerset, where he made many friends and grew to be a loving young man.
William attended elementary and middle school at Union Avenue Elementary School in Irvington, NJ, and The Avatar School in East Orange, NJ. He attended high school at the Union Catholic School Scotch Plains, NJ, and the Franklin Township High School in Somerset, NJ.
William’s early years were spent training in music and playing violin at the Newark School of the Arts. Music was his favorite hobby. As a youngster, William aspired to be a DJ, practicing on what simple equipment he had. He would later write rap songs.
William was baptized in the United Missionary Baptist Church in East Orange, NJ.
His early development in the church created a strong desire to know God. His search to know God, and to develop an understanding and personal relationship with God continued throughout his life.
After graduating from high school, William attended and graduated from Virginia State University, receiving a BA in Art. At Virginia State, William continued his love for the Arts and has subsequently left many works of art for us to admire.
With his entrepreneurial spirit, William founded “Wanted United” a graphics art business which he worked diligently to grow, developing the graphics for a planed clothing line.
William moved to Owings Mills, MD, in January, 1998 to begin a teaching career. Originally starting as a substitute teacher, William accepted the position of Art Teacher at Highland Town Middle School, Baltimore, MD, in August 1998. Shortly before his death he commented, “I have found what I want to do with the rest of my life.”
William loved teaching; he loved the children and the recognition and acceptance that he could make a difference in a child’s life. He had great plans to help ensure their success.
William was a loving young man. He loved his work, his many friends, his family, and his God. He remains very close to his parents, his family, and his friends albeit his spirit is with God.
Williams’ life on earth ended September 6, 1998, but his great work continues on.
